My wife and I spent a vacation on the island of Fuerteventura back in 2011 (just after the tsunami had hit Japan that led to the Fukushima nuclear disaster).
The above statement about birds is totally incorrect. What is correct is that the birds are named for the islands (and the islands for dogs), not the other way round.

(It doesn't have to be accurate...it doesn't even have to agree with reality...
Maybe you should have your right frontal lobe checked out...see if the batteries need changing.....).
