The Rings of Power Has Five Seasons

Okay, guys, I cleaned up a couple of posts here as they were not constructive and also attacked/insinuated things about other users (although "worded nicely" it wasn't when read between the lines).

Try to behave, and don't start egging on other users, nothing good comes out of that 🧙‍♂️

P.S: And if you got caught in the "cross-fire", I'm sorry, but there were nicer(ish) posts in between that were quoting the bad ones, and I didn't feel like cleaning those up 🙈

Battles Schmattles! I want to see the progenitors of the Hobbits and the way they lived as happy wandering folk before The Gathering brought them to The Shire. Enough of all this killing and burning. It makes a tale of worth telling to frighten the lads and lasses I guess, but there's far too much of it going around already in this so-called "real world", I don't knead it in my fantasies and I don't seek to lay that burden on the youngsters. Give me a slow tale of folk overcoming natural hardships and persevering by pulling together and helping each other. That's the only way we're going to get through this. Fighting is generally self-defeating anymore.

Unfortunately, I fear 'Spectacle' rather than 'Story' is still where the minds of men and beasts travel when they consider how to make the most money.
There isn't much offered in the visual medias anywhere, nor being newly created, giving an Ent a hope we're recognizing Story is far more fulfilling.
"Give me blood - give me battles - give me sweeping death and dismay - that's what I'll lay my money and time down for.'
And we wonder why the real world is the way it is?
Hum. Methinks we're missing some obvious things, if so.

That said, the one thing I'm hearing so far about Season 2 in all the talk is indeed the 'focus on the battles ahead' - which, like you Sir Will, does not attract me personally too much as a "drawing" feature encouraging me to watch.

Absent some other redeeming qualities, I may not be participating in the watch very long.

I'd almost rather see Radagast in a sled being pulled by bunnies, or Legolas skiing off an Oliphaunt's trunk, than a long sequence of battles and bloodshed.
But... that's just this Ent's perspective of course.

That's a good idea. Let's have a kinder/gentler story that still has its ups and downs.

How about the tale of Bilbo traveling the Shire trying to reclaim all his missing furnishings, artwork, and cutlery after his return from the Lonely Mountain?

I'd watch it.

Title: The Dagor Decorolad (Quest for the Lost Household Items)

Podering can become a word (if it's not already) if you just stick with it -- keep using it until it catches on! I have a new word that I'm trying to push (besides yegg), but unfortunately, I can't think of it right now.

It's a verb. That much I recall 🐾

Iteresting concept.
Or even an intersting one.

I think the Harfoot/Stoors tale would be worthy of its own mini-series myself. As a piece of Rings of Power, it's a bit of a sideshow and detracts from the other Ring-centric story lines. Same with Numenor, though I understand a need to have them as part of any 2nd Age tale. Still, I think they tried to cram too much into too little time, so the result is a lot of shallowness.

They just don't know how to do the series.
We have seen in Game of Thrones (and other series), that it's not a problem at all to create 3-4 separate storylines that connects at the end.
They just don't know how to edit, how to establish characters, how to write interesting dialogues... they are clueless.
And yes, Got have many flaws... Martin himself, in my opinion, have many flaws in the main story... but in comparison to Rop, it looks like a masterpiece.
