The Silmarillion Movie: Will it ever be made?

[Halasían]

Great. Just what isn't needed is more Peter Jackson pollution of the Tolkien Middle Earth legendarium.

[Eldacar]

I'd rather don't have it adapted at all than having another half hearted attempt at staying relevant by Jackson. But even if someone new would take over, I still dread the result.

Not everything has to be made into a movie. I hope this project will never become reality.

[Elthir]

Not only that, but other reports are saying that Peter Jackson will be helming a movie based on The Silmarillion.

Hmm. What other reports?

As far as I know, at the moment no one has the legal right to make a Filmarillion, which is why
The Rings Of Power, for example, has been limited to the relatively brief descriptions of the First
and Second Ages found in the Appendices to (or elsewhere in) The Lord of the Rings.

And for what it's worth, as of today at least, the official Tolkien Estate website FAQ reads:
"While understanding the wish of many fans to see a film of The Silmarillion, the Tolkien Estate has no current plans for any such motion picture."

Just guessing: I wouldn't be surprised if Christopher Tolkien had something drawn up in his will
for the Estate to keep the rights to The Silmarillion as long as possible.

Although I'm no lawyer, and no judge --
but if that's possible and legal, again, it
would not surprise me!

[Deimos]

Love the pic 🙂

Despite what I've seen (so far) with respect to adaptations based on Tolkien, I yet have a secret yearning to see The Children of Húrin brought to the big screen. . .

. . . but only if I'm director, and am in total control of every aspect of the film!

Give me mountains of gold and I'll do it.

And you won't regret it.

[Squint-eyed Southerner]

Are you prepared to fight the corporate sharks?

[Ericamaples38]

I don't really know how they would do it if they were able to make the movie, but it would be really cool to see it though

[Elthir]

Are you prepared to fight the corporate sharks?

Just in case, I already hired someone for the job!

[Squint-eyed Southerner]

And if he doesn't do the job:

. . . but only if I'm director, and am in total control of every aspect of the film!

Are the characters all going to be played by cats?

I'd honestly prefer that! I'd rather see Kittimo, Catalaurë, Cattyelko, and Catvo than random guys who don't look the part...

[Squint-eyed Southerner]

I look forward to Meowglor.

[Ashley]

We'd actually have Tevildo!

[Squint-eyed Southerner]

Yep.

[Maedhros_Nelyafinwë]

I look forward to Meowglor.

Aka Catalaurë.

[Elthir]

Are the characters all going to be played by cats?

I could go that way or course. . . if so, all cats indeed . . . except for the part of Tevildo

kudos on Kittimo and the other names by the way

[Erestor Arcamen]

How about muppets? That could be fun

Waldorf: “At least Morgoth did one thing right.”
Statler: “What’s that?”
Waldorf: “He stayed underground for the second half of the book.”
Both: “DOH-HO-HO”

[Squint-eyed Southerner]

And if that works, maybe a "Hobbit" remake?

[Idril Celebrindal]

We need Gonzo as Morgoth.

Statler: “Did you watch The Hobbit?”

Waldorf: “Yeah, but I felt like I was on an unexpected journey… to boredom!”

Statler: “At least the dwarves had a mountain of gold. All I got was a mountain of disappointment!”

Both: “DOHOHOHOHO!”

[Idril Celebrindal]

In that case, Kermit should play Killi and Ms. Piggy can be Tauriel.
