I always liked Ted Nasmith's artwork. I put together all of the silmarillion paintings of his onto my Flickr account here:

Is anybody else dreading how the new Amazon show will influence fanart? Eru help us!

At least PJ was heavily influenced by Alan Lee/John Howe.

I really don't understand these Melkor-Mairon or Fingon-Maedhros couples in fan art.

You should read some of the related fanfic. 🤣

Or maybe not. 🤯

Yeah. I'd avoid the Melkor/Sauron pairing

I've just discovered the art of Jay Johnstone https://jaystolkien.com/
Some amazing Tolkien artwork im the style of medieval religious iconography and illuminated manuscripts.
Prints, books and original paintings are available

my personal favourite... Turin the Silent (with the shadow of Glarung on the rock)

These are fantastic!

By coincidence, Alice recently acquired a copy of a Russian LOTR featuring what I'd call "earlier Medieval" style illustrations. I'm trying to get her to post them. She's looking for some pics online.

[Squint-eyed Southerner]

Also, she's contrary. 🤣

Nicely done!

But who got up there-- and how the heck did they do it? 😳

Breath of the Wild Link

[HALETH✒🗡]

He did.
Cats served Morgoth.

On the one hand...

On the other hand...

All in all, I suppose that Tolkien didn't like precisely sphynx cats.

[HALETH✒🗡]

It's not a Tolkien artwork, actually. It's a painting by Salvador Dali. Sam would be surprised.

After he got home, maybe -- and had a few too many at the Green Dragon. Who knows what he might have seen? 😃

too many

what does "too many" mean? :-D
