oh, my sister was in the middle of this, in Austria. Their houses almost flooded (they'd dug flood channels around their houses a month or two ago, and those saved them), and all the bridges in their area are washed out/shut down for repair/inspection. she said it takes them an hour to drive around to the local town, which is about 20 min away. Not trivial, but I didn't know where else to post this.
Parts of the Balkans, eastern Austria, the Czech Republic and parts of Slovakia and Poland really got drenched since last week Thursday. Some regions had 20 or more inches (500 mm) of rainfall in 72 hours. A buddy of mine lives in Vienna, so I phoned him Sunday afternoon. They had up to 16 inches (400 mm) in 72 hours, but the situation was not critical, though a couple of subway lines had to discontinue service. Durig the chat, he mentioned having read a news item about Australia, with temperatures being unseasonably hot there for early spring, over 40°C or 104°F. @Halasían , @TrackerOrc , have you been affected by unusual heat where you live?
My brother is in south-east England, and they got hit with a ton of rain as well. His fitness apps thought he was surfing; what he was actually doing was cleaning out his machining cell at work - it completely flooded, as did all the offices! totally crazy, but they had a good laugh about it!
