What the **** did sauron get from the dwarven rings?

The question is simple
What the **** (edited for language content. RD) did sauron get from the dwarven rings?
and please don't spout out trash about their lust for gold!!!
Was sauron trying to make wraths out of the dwarves and elves too? coz just getting their rings couldn't have given him their power, and surely he knew he couldn't control them with magic being a very "wise" and powerful Maia!?

Well,I don't know whether Sauron actually used the dwarven rings, but he definitely thought it was better that he possessed them rather than the dwarves. The Dwarves were harder to corrupt and Sauron didin't even have his one ring.

he didnt make the elven rings. and I thought he made the dwarven rings to corrupt them into wraiths but when he realised they were un-nazgul-able he wanted them back.

Its my understanding that the lessor rings (i.e. NOT the Elven rings or the ONE) are the same its just a question of who he gave them to, so maybe the reason he would want to get them back is that he could give them to some men and up his Nazgul count.

Simple answer...bragging rights! The dwarven rings were meant to corrupt the dwarves and magically make more gold, but the only thing it did was that it made them want to mine more gold.

They might also have had a different effect on Sauron, and could have perhaps increased his power in a subtle way.

he Got one of the Rings from Thrain when he was in the Dungeon of the Necromancer (Sauron in Dol Guldar) and I would imagine that he got at least one when Moria fell, that is two, he had at least three of them, but then dwarf kings fell during the endless goblin/dwarf wars. He probably collected the other rings that way, the rest were destroyed by dragon fire.

I think that Durin has one still, but i am not too up on my dwarven mythology...

no coz the ring on thror/thrain was the ring of moria which they kept, the 7 went to all different dwarves like in the east n stuff which we dont here of, dwaves not of Durins line etc.

There is no doubt Sauron imagined the Dwarves would be easier to control than they actually proved to be. However, self-satisfying lust and greed is just as potent when it comes to seeking their demise.

Yes indeed. For who says that Sauron did not gain from giving the dwarves their rings? In my opinion it was the ring that made the dwarves in Moria delve so deep after Mithril. Sure they were greedy before but that ring must have enhanced their want for more treasures. Also we do not know much of the other dwarves in the east except for that many were killed by dragons and others by Sauron for he had gained some and the rest were already destroyed by the dragons. This means that he was rid of a great threat, imagine what damage the dwarves could have done him if they had not been destroyed. This is i fyou assume that strifes and wars became nore common due to the power of the rings.

Yes, the Dwarves would have kicked some arse if they hadnt been wiped out by the Dragons and such... but o well. In the Sil they tell of some great wars that the Dwarves helped in, and they proved to be a great help indeed.

Dear Celebthol,
Perhap's (and most likely in my opinion)Sauron received the most benefit in relieving the dwarves of their rings.
Sauron probably bestowed these rings on the dwarfs believing them to be as susceptible to their corruptive nature as the other races.
Whilst it may be true that the recipient's were wealthy and powerful dwarf lords,if they could not be brought under Sauron's sway they were then liabilitie's rather than asset's and due to their clannish nature could be picked off individually rather than risk a grand alliance .
It was probably a gamble that may have paid huge dividend's,but in the end the cost of recovery versus investment was achievable in the scope of time.

P.S.As a postscript I would support Ancalagon's statement that dwarven greed was as likely to be the ruination of most alliances,let alone their survival.
