What if Gandalf decided to join Saruman?

If Gandalf joined Saruman, they wouldn't actually help each other as both of them would like to get the ring. What is more, in this case Frodo wouldn't have almost any chances because Gandalf knew about him.

Gandalf is also quite cunning and perceptive. They'd likely squabble over the Ring and the Nazgûl would show up and kill them both.

To be fair, I think there's a couple of people who could have wrested control over it to themselves but in this scenario there simply wouldn't have been time.
