What if Gollum turned good?

In my head it sounds like the story in Moomin where Moomin climbs into a Hobgoblins hat, but becomes unrecognizable to everyone. So he pleads with his mother, and despite how Moomin doesnt look anything like his previous self, she recognizes him and he regains his true form.

I kinda see that story as a reverse story of Gollum if he turned good. Since overall Moomins heart hasnt been corrupted.
