The Black Breath is a grave and often even an incurable and fatal condition. Also identified as the Black Shadow, this condition is caused because of contact with Nazgûl. The Nazgûl also referred to as ‘The Ringwraiths’. ‘Úlairi’, the ‘Black Riders’ or ‘The Nine’; were the dreaded ring servants of the Dark Lord Sauron. The Black Breath was a form of a biological weapon meant to incapacitate the adversaries and was utilized extensively in the battle of Pelennor Fields.
Effects
Once affected by the Black Breath, in its mild form, the victim would ordinarily experience a brief and abrupt period of unconsciousness, nightmares, and a state of disturbance when roused. [1]
Treatment
The herb ‘Athelas’, which is also acknowledged as ‘Kingsfoil’ or asëa aranion (Beneficial of the Kings) is perceived to have healing potentials. [2] This sweet-smelling herb is adopted to treat wounds, poison, and evil influences such as Black Breath.
