The Dragon-helm of Dor-lómin, was a formidable Dwarven war helmet from the First Age. It was most notably associated with Túrin.
Description
.The appearance of the helm was magnificent; it was adorned with gold on the background of grey steel. At the top of the helm, the armor bore the sculpture of the dragon Glaurung, The Deceiver. The helm also had a visor "in the style of most dwarven armor." The armor struck fear into the hearts of the enemies of the wearer.
History
The Helm of Hador was a war helmet crafted by the Dwarves of Belegost that initially belonged to Lord Azaghâl. It was forged by the Telchar, one of the great Dwarf-smiths of Nogrod, a few years after the Dagor Aglareb. Maedhoros, the eldest Son of Fëanor, received it as a gift from Azaghâl, which was later passed onto his cousin Fingon, the eldest son of Fingolfin. Fingon later gifted this helmet to Hador when he has crowned the first Lord of Dor-lómin, a new kingdom named by Fingolfin, the High King of the Noldor, in 416. The helmet became a significant heirloom of the High Kings of the Ñoldor and was passed on for generations. The Helm was now called the Helm of Hador since it belonged to the House of Hador.
The Helm passed on from Hador to Galdor and then to Hurin. A highly proud Hurin never wore it because of his short stature. The Helm was in Morwen's possession after Morgoth's capture of Hurin. Between FA 463 and FA 473, Thingol, the Lord of Beleriand, handed over the Helm of Hador to his adopted son Turin Turambar. Turin was mighty enough to wear the Helm and often wore it in his fights in Doriath. Hence Turin was often called Gorthol, the Dread Helm. When Túrin fled from Doriath, he did not take his Helm with him. But his friend Beleg, a great captain of the Sindar, went on a mission to find Turin. As instructed by Thingol, he handed it over to Turin when they met in Amon Rûdh. After the Battles of Beleriand, the Helm was in Turin's possession when in Nargothrond and later in Brethil. Turin was the only son of the House of Hador who could unlock the Helm's great potential. After Turin's early death, the Helm was handed to Hurin by the ruling Lord of Brethil. [1]

The quote used to describe the magnificent Helm
"A power was in it that guarded any who wore it from wound or death, for the sword that hewed it was broken, and the dart that smote it sprang aside."

The history of the Helm percolates into the period of Túrin's stay in Nargothrond and Bethril. The final comprehensible evidence of the Helm is in FA 495 at the Battle of Tumhalad. The Helm protects Turin from the Dragon Glaurung's mystical powers. However, Turin opens the visor and looks at the dragon wanting to look at his enemy eye-to-eye.
