Biography
Telchar, along with Fëanor and Celebrimbor, was the most renowned smiths of Middle Earth. Telchar's mentor was Gamil Zirak, the old. There aren’t enough details regarding Telchar's birth, death, or personal life. He probably lived and died in the First Age as he crafted the Dragon Helm of Dor-lómin in FA 265.His Works
Telchar forged a dragon-helm which had the dragon Glaurung carved on the crests. The helm had a visor to protect the eyes of anyone wearing it from the blazing flames of a dragon. [1] This helm had many owners like Azaghal, Elf Maedhros, Fingon, Hador, and Turin. Telchar constructed a knife called the Angrist, which was capable of slicing through iron. Angrist, which was used to remove a Silmaril from the Iron Crown of Morgoth, was possessed by Curufin and Beren. [2] Telchar crafted the Narsil, a sword used by Elendil to fight Sauron. After it was broken by Sauron, Elrond reforged it and called it the Andruil. [3]Earlier versions
In the earlier versions of the legendarium, Telchar was initially depicted as a wicked dwarf.References
