Bilbo’s birthday speech was his memorable speech on his 111th birthday celebration on September 22nd, Third Age 3001. [1]
Bilbo was infamous for his lengthy speeches, which often meandered through tales of his past exploits and included verses of poetry. These elements made his speeches a somewhat tiresome affair for any Hobbit in attendance at his dinners.
The speech he gave on this particular night became legendary among Hobbits, as it marked the last time many would see Bilbo in person. At the end of his speech, Bilbo discreetly slipped on his ring, vanishing from sight. This act further fueled the tales of "Mad Baggins" renowned for his mysterious disappearances and rumored to return laden with treasure.[2]
There are 2 different versions of the speech, the one from the books as well as the one from New Line Cinema's The Fellowship of the Ring
