I'm glad to say that I've never had to have that. Though I have had to have a liquid antibiotic (and no, I wasn't given it by an Uruk-Hai).

Not technically, as that person (if it is one) was able to post - unless, of course, they had a ghost-writer they dictated to.
But babbling about a book (or anything else written) without having read the original is a secondary form of illiteracy for me.
I know from having read several of JRRT's works in the original and in German translation; at the very least fine points get lost in translation.
As everyone else, I am illiterate about works written in a language I can't read. Very much so in scripts that are entirely different from Latin letters.
But simply not having read a book I could, as the question implies, is another form of illiteracy. And "The Hobbit" isn't Relativity or Quantum Theory. 🙄
