I want to get a tattoo…

I want to get a tattoo that says, “Let the thralls of Mordor flee me.” It is the second half of the inscription on Anduril’s blade. The inscription is in Quenya and written using the Angerthas. I think the runes look a little crude, so I was hoping to get the tattoo written using the Tengwar script. I went to Tecendil.com and generated text, but I wanted to double check that it was accurate and said what I wanted.

Can anyone confirm, or deny, that this says, “Let the thralls of Mordor flee me?” If it does not, does anyone have any suggestions for how I could generate accurate text for the tattoo artist?

If the Tengwar script actually said "Shave and a haircut, two bits" I don't think 99.99% of people would know the difference.
And I'm including Forum members in that 99.99%.
But....it's your tattoo, so be as accurate as you want. :)

So can you tell what that says? If not, thanks but no thanks I guess ;)

I believe "the thralls of Mordor" in Quenya is certainly correct, as "mól" is singular for "thrall", and "Mordórëo" is a plausible translation "of Mordor"... although I prefer "Mordorion"-- literally "of Mordor." The Tengwar portion for the way you've presented such looks correct, but I don't know how you combined "let... flee me". What are your root choices in Quenya for such? (How did you decide to piece together "lercuvanten"?) (The Tengwar matches up with what you have, but I am not sure where you found a breakdown of the Quenya translation of this.)

(I also don't consider myself an expert, so do please take this with a grain of salt.)

Is there a subjunctive mood in Tengwar?
Because that is the mood of any statement (in any language) that is of the form "let the..." , or "let us" or "let him/her/them..."

hum hrooom.
Ent always advises against such things as tattoos. Chap the bark, they do.
And as entings grow and rings are added, spread and separate and change occurs. What was once desired has changed, and is now misplaced from its origins. (Ent speaks rhetorically here.)

But entings often need experience... even if of a difficult kind.

A youth among us, Caiden new -
fresh among TTF crew.
Caution's his suggested brew
regarding said wanted tattoo.

Experience is often sought,
though counsel just as oft is fought.
Decide you must in your own thought.
Peril's ahead. With it life's fraught.

Yep....the story goes how a younger woman (age 35.....imprudence knows no distinctions of age) got a rose tattooed on one...umm... bazoom.
Decades later it had become a long-stemmed rose.

For some reason, I always connected this dialogue between Gandalf and Saruman in the books, with tattoo.
(but then again, I don't judge anyone... it's everybody free will to do whatever they want)

'I looked then and saw that his robes, which had seemed white, were not so, but were woven of all colours. and if he moved they shimmered and changed hue so that the eye was bewildered.

' "I liked white better," I said.

' "White! " he sneered. "It serves as a beginning. White cloth may be dyed. The white page can be overwritten; and the white light can be broken."

' "In which case it is no longer white," said I. "And he that breaks a thing to find out what it is, has left the path of wisdom."

Ryszard Derdzinski's site Gwaith-i-Phethdain presents the inscription on the movie version of Andúril as saying in Neo-Quenya: Lercuvanten i móli Mordórëo. (lit. "flee-shall-they-me, the thralls Mordor-of")

Based on my current knowledge, I would translate your version (that has a third-person command) into Neo-Quenya as Nai lercuvar nye/nyé i móli Mordórëo/Mordóreva "may the thralls of Mordor flee me" -- assuming e.g. that the Quenya verb meaning "flee" can have an accusative object like its English and Finnish counterparts can.

In addition to Tecendil, there is also a site called online Tengwar Transcriber. One needs to remember to first set the mode (input lang.) to "Quenya" there as well.

Thank you Elhath Reborn, I appreciate it. I put that text through both sites and got slightly different images. If you don’t mind, could you tell me the differences?

I have to agree with @Ent here. The problem with tattoos is that they are forever, I know you can remove it but it's expensive and it doesn't work all the time (depending on skin and tattoo colors).

I guess a small tattoo in an area that won't stretch when you get older and that you can cover is ok, otherwise, you might have problems landing some jobs and even get in trouble because you are profiled. Let's say you want a tattoo of Anduril, not everyone know what that means and it is a sword, it might be considered a symbol of something bad.

A phrase in a strange language written with strange characters might be misinterpreted.

The one on the left seems accurate. The one on the right seems to have just left the long O's (aka ó's) as Latin letters, as well as using wrong-mode Tengwar for C, V, NY, RD and the diphthong AI.
