Second-guessing and Misunderstanding Tolkien

Not sure if this counts, but... I'm starting to hate the films right now.

1. Thing is that Sauron had NO CHOICE but to put all his power into the One Ring, if he was to use other Great Rings to assure his domination. The rings, and their caretakers - great elven lords - were simply so powerful. Horcruxes by contrast had no purpose other than to preserve Voldemort's soul.

2. Sauron absolutely did get his body back. In the books, Gollum speaks of Sauron having "nine fingers on his dark hand", in present tense. Again, Sauron HAS A BODY during the Lord of the Rings books. That giant flaming eyeball in the films? That is just Peter Jackson doing a doofu.

I couldn't make it all the way though. The guy apparently based everything on the movies. 🙄

I wonder how many cash-in books have been published "explaining" LOTR based solely on the movies?
Yeah... that's why I said I hate the films now. They are okay as a standalone, but so many misconceptions have spread because of them...
