Second-guessing and Misunderstanding Tolkien

Pytlík does not sound very good in Bulgarian HAHAHAHAAHAH
LOLL
btw I kind of get it why they did that - the translation in this case is kind of descriptive of the characters

In Bulgarian they translated Baggins as Torbins. because torba means a bag
gamgee as maitaper, maitap as a joking one, a merrily laughing one
there are other ones I noticed when I read in my native language but I forgot them.
do translators keep in Baggins in your languages, or do they translate it to sound metaphorically?
Depends on which translation.

In Crnković translation, which is the one I incidentally have (alongside the original English edition), some surnames are translated and some are not. For example, you have Baggins, Gamgee, Brandybuck, Took, Proudfoot, Maggot... but then you also have Maslovar, Podgorski, Kaponja, Trskovac, Kozjačina.

In the newest translation, apparently, all English language surnames are translated to Croatian... so Baggins became Torbar.

Uh...explain what, exactly? That stories change over centuries and different writers write differently and come up with different stories?

Wait, what? Does this chucklehead really think they went to Rivendell because Frodo was stabbed? 🤨 Did they think they were on their way to Mordor??

Er... no, they weren't 😒

If I could choose any fictional character, why wouldn't I choose Superman? And who else would I need? 🙄

With questions like these, we all lose.

MY conclusion is that your parents did not have any offspring that lived.
Sorry, just had to share the response that clown made to my (non) answer, just to illustrate the kind of brain rot that evidently affects (infects?) that site:
You ask by what axioms one concludes whether the offspring of a mountain-born bearded stock and a forest-adapted long-limbed phenotype would be fertile? This is not an axiom. This is a question of biohistorical materialism.

Observe, citizen. The dwarf Kili is a representative of an ancient, highly endogamous mountain clade. The elf Tauriel belongs to a population whose reproductive chronology is measured not in decades but in centuries. Already we are confronted with a haplogroup divergence so severe that entire phylogenetic dissertations could be written upon it.

Yet your respondent flees from the problem. He invokes Tolkien as a primitive invokes thunder spirits. 'What would Tolkien think?' The question is irrelevant. We are not conducting a séance. We are conducting race science.

The correct approach is to establish premises.

Humans and elves in Middle-earth are canonically interfertile.

Dwarves are sapient humanoids sharing a common metaphysical origin with other speaking peoples.

No text explicitly demonstrates dwarf-elf offspring.

Absence of evidence is not evidence of sterility. It is evidence that nobody was sufficiently brave to test the hypothesis.

From these premises one derives several competing models. The conservative model predicts reproductive incompatibility due to extreme chromosomal drift. The liberal model predicts viable offspring of reduced fertility. The maximalist model predicts fully fertile hybrids, thereby creating an entirely new demographic category whose beard-growth characteristics would revolutionize the political economy of Middle-earth.

These are conclusions. They emerge from assumptions. Not axioms, perhaps, but working premises. The distinction would be obvious to anyone whose cephalic measurements exceed room temperature.

As for the answer itself: it contains much indignation, little analysis, and no haplogroups. One suspects the respondent's own lineage has suffered a catastrophic bottleneck event.
A unique strain of troll, perhaps, but still a troll.

The response seems AI generated. 🙄 People are able to create gobbledygook at the click of a button now, no need to even waste any time typing it all out themselves.

HAHA... you know that, I see!
Yeah, I kind of consider myself a Simpsons nut, even if I haven't watched the show in almost 2 decades 😁

I could believe it's AI except I don't think AI has been programmed to throw shade...yet.
