It took me a couple of tries to figure that out. You meant ---> won. Got it. Anyways, how am I supposed to know? I'm not some scary expert who knows all of the numbers of the armies and things like that. He lost that one time when he had the One Ring on. I don't see why that couldn't happen again. But then, he'd just keep coming back. oh well. I don't know. I'd like to think that Sauron would win.
Well, theres all the worry about how if he gains the one ring, and then at the black gate they are totally out numbered. But if the Hourns were there they would surely win.
And the other time there was loads and loads of High Elves and Numenoreans....not true the second time over....
I am inclined to agree with YayGollum in saying that Sauron would win the second time round. I really don't think Huorns could favourably sway the battle. Make it last longer? Yes. But winning it, no.
For one, they are very slow moving, they never rushed the orcs, merely got into position and waited for them to come.
Secondly, I'm sure Sauron would be able to use fire to his extreme advantage against them. Remember, the orcs that the Huorns destroyed were fireless, not to mention bewildered and defeated.
Add that to the much greater numbers of fresh troops that Sauron had, plus Sauron's power with the One Ring, and I think it's over...
There wasn't strength enough to defeat Sauron even when he was ringless. That's why the whole Fellowship of the Ring 'thing' was set up in the first place. As for the Huorns participating, I agree with what has been said - Sauron would use fire against them somehow, just like he did with the Entwives in the Brown Lands. They would have been wiped out.
Besides, I'm not even sure the Huorns would participate in the first place.
And if Sauron recovered the One, his strength would have been multiplied. His will would have been more powerful, his servants more ferocious, and his hand more far-reaching. The Nazgul would then perhaps be given their 9 rings back and become even more dreadful. The Keepers of the Three would be forced to take their Rings off and their strength would diminish.
Yeah everyone is right.......Gandalf says in "The Last Debate" that the Free Peoples "...cannot achieve victory by arms", and this was at a time when Sauron didn't even HAVE the Ring, surely if it was impossible to defeat Sauron with force (which would probably include the Huorns) when he didn't have the Ring, it would be erm...more impossible (?)...if he did have it.
Also about the fire thing if Saruman had that blasting fire that he used at Helm's Deep and also that liquid fire stuff that he shot at some Ent when they drowned Isengard, Sauron would have at least something this good in terms of a fire-weapon, and probably something better right?
So basically even with the Huorns Sauron could kick their editted.
Why would the Huorns participate in the War against Sauron. They went against Saruman because he was a threat to them and had wrecked a lot of the forest, Sauron was too distant and great a threat, as Treebeard says.
The one ring would give Sauron the power to crush the whole of M-E, I don't see how some tress would effect the outcome. The Huorns werent some all-powerful force. Note, in the Battle of Helm's Deep it was the forces under Theoden and Gandalf's re-inforcments from the Westfold under Erkenbrand that slew a lot of the Uruk-hai and Dunlendings, the forest simply made them panic and a then a lot of them fled into the forest and were slain by the Huorns. They were not only caught by suprise, absolutely terrified and fleeing but a lot of them had cast aside their weapons.

The only reason Sauron's forces lost the battle at the black gate was because Suaron's will was no longer driving them. They had back their free thought and were in disaray. If Sauron had the one ring, he would have crushed the forces of the free peoples with or without the Huorns. Trolls would be able to compete in size and strength with the Huorns.

No, Trolls were made in mockery of Ents, not Huorns. And Huorns were certainly less 'bendy' than Ents (and Trolls) and I wonder how efficient they would be in a battle of such proportions.
