Erkenbrand

Erkenbrand was the Lord of the Westfold. He was a renowned Rohirrim warrior who was part of the War of the Ring.

Erkenbrand, born in Hornburg, served the King of Rohan during his early years and settled in Hornburg in his old ages. He possessed a red shield and the Horn of the Hammerhand. [1]

During the first Battle of the Fords of Isen, Erkenbrand helped protect Hornburg and the Deeping Wall by strengthening the army. After Theoden's son, Théodred's demise, on February 25, T.A. 3019, Western Rohan soldiers came under his control. Not having enough resources to continue the battle, he sent a message to Théoden, which was delayed by Grima. Erkenbrand, along with Elfhelm and Grimbold, marched towards the Fords of Isen. Erkenbrand assembled around a thousand warriors for the Second Battle of Isen's Fords on March 2. Erkenbrand was summoned by Gandalf to march towards Hornburg and aid Theoden in his fight against Saruman when his forces were driven east by Saruman. Upon their arrival on March 4, Erkenbrand and his soldiers fought relentlessly and won the Battle of the Hornburg. [2] Erkenbrand did not take part in the War fought on the Pelennor Fields. On August 3019, King Éomer acknowledged Erkenbrand as the West-Mark Marshal after Theoden's demise.

Gandalf searches for Erkenbrand and Grimbold with the help of a recruited player after he leaves the Riders of Rohan. After traveling beyond Westfold, the player ultimately spots Grimbold, Marshal of Rohan, at the Fords of Isen and Erkenbrand and his subjects southwards. After gathering the riders, Gandalf and his army march towards Hornburg.

In the movie, Eomer, the eighteenth King of Rohan, takes the role of Erkenbrand.
