Did wars of Beleriand follow a specific order?

From what I've researched and read about middle earth, most of the battles in the war of the ring were fought at the same time. but the wars of beleriand were not fought simultaneously, but sequentially, that is, at certain time intervals, is that true?

How would the wars in the War of the Ring be fought all at the same time?

Middle-Earth would have been pretty much destroyed by the sheer amount of destruction and weaponry...or maybe it sort of already was.
