Tolkien, alas (to good measure too, or else he would have written something else to please our hearts with:) ) was a man.

Grey Annals, Morgoth Ring, HOME.

but the Orcs had at once cruelly slain their prisoners, and Finduilas they pinned to a tree with a spear. So she died, saying at the last: Tell the Mormegil that Finduilas is here.' Therefore they had laid her in a mound near that place, and named it Hauð-en-Ellas.

Then Níniel came towards the Crossings of Taiglin and beheld Hauð-en-Ellas in the white moonlight, and great dread came on her. Then with a cry she turned away, casting off her cloak, and fled southward along the river, and her white raiment shone in the moon.

Then the heart of Finduilas was turned from [/B]Gwindor[/B] (who because of his pains in Angband was half crippled) and her love was given to Túrin; and Túrin loved her but spoke not, being loyal to Gwindor
Why do you think Niniel feels the sense of foreboding and dread when she goes to Hauð-en-Ellas? Does it have something do with Findulias’s grave being there? Does Niniel feel possesive of her rights on Túrin as a wife, for somehow she precieves the gloom lying on Túrin’s heart and his fierceness in protecting in mound?
Does Tolkien want to show here that Níniel perceived? Somehow about Túrin’s love for Finduilas and felt jealous?
??

Turin loved Finduilas IMO, and she was supposed to be his TRUE love, yet the stupid curse came between it. His 'love' with Nieniel-Nienor was a result of Glarurung and Morgoth's actions. And who wouldn't be jealous of the fairest Elf maiden of all time ;) Finduilas, I think when she passed her grave Niniel realized she was half the woman Finduilas was....
