Guess the Definition

Not quite, my golden friend. But your guesses are most endearing. I love the emojis and the jests XD
(I tried to think of a light pun myself, but oh well 🤪)
And you are simply delightful.
(You mean to tell me the lightbulb wasn't coming on for you? 💡 🤪 Then again, it's not turning on for me either regarding our mysterious friend lambent.)

In physics the Greek letter lambda represents the wavelength of light. Is the "lamb" in lambent related to wavelength (or color)?

For some reason, the word ambient comes to mind. Maybe lambent is a slanting light, like that in certain seasons and latitudes?
Not slanting, but I  think we're getting there.

I must apologize, for I know not the etymolygy of this word. However, I can tell you color plays no part in this verb.

Lambda λ is the Greek letter L .
It was adopted in the 19th C. as the abbreviation for wavelength because the English letter L was already in use in the scientific community for [physical/geometric] Length.

So, lambent would be light waves bent by a prism. :) (I feel sheepish to make such a discussion. If there's a lot of blowback, I may have to go on the lam.)

light waves bent by a prism.
Isaac: 'Hmmm. The lazy light lambents lusciously.'
Assistant: 'Lambents? Really? Stick to science sir. Poetry is not your forte.'

In this case, the action referred to by "lambent" can be seen without aid from a prism :]
The idea of bending light is getting us closer to the meaning of this word, though it is not done by help of man.

Ah, I should be more specific. The idea of light moving, is what I should have said.

All light, all wavelengths, is always moving.
Speed of light c = 3x10^8 m/s. If photons ever stopped moving they would cease to exist. (Sorry, but I just had to go all "physics" on you 😆)

Hey, that's a fair nitpick! I appreciate the correction.
🤔 perhaps I should say "moving in a manner visible to the naked human eye"

Oh, I know what you meant (and mean)...😄... like light "dancing" or "darting" or even "piercing" .. the "poetic" sense of light moving.

That's it, you're getting closer!

Really? I wasn't trying to.... I only said that about poetic movement of light so you wouldn't think my "moving light " correction was the pontificating of a pedantic, dry-as-dust professorial type (which it was... I just didn't want you to think it was 😬🙄😄😉)
