I'm very very very new to the whole TLOTR series and I only discovered it about a year ago so very unfortunately I have not had the chance to read them more tha once...but that won't stop me from doing it in the future.

Back-to-Back

The first time i have read it, I was 8 years old, and that was like " Sho Big Book !"

I finished the 6 books in 1 years,

When i got a little bit older, i was reading it once a year

Now that im mature and a huge fans of Tolkien

I Always have The 6 LotR, The Silmarilion, the 3 UT in my backpack

And i read them back-to-back-to back-to-back

Just in the year 2002, i ve read them at least 6 times each, including the Silmarilion

That what i call back-to-back !

(Now, when i read it, I takes a pencil and a sheet of paper, and i take notes)

Hurray for Tolkien !!

UT is Unfinished Tales and Letters = The Letters of J. R. R. Tolkien. The Letters is one of the most insightful works which looks into the mind of the author. Many times these letters offer the most clarity in answering many of questions concerning Middle-earth.

I have read Lord of the Rings and Unfinished Tales several times, and Children of Hurin and The Hobbit a few times. I'm due for a reread of Lord of the Rings!

Well now, here's a thread (and a poll!) I've never seen before! Of course, there have been a number of similar threads here over the years. For the record, I cast "too many times to count" -- though I confess I normally tend to just read certain passages for reference.

Come to think of it, I'm probably due for a complete reread too!

Edit: By the way, @Vardarianna, you and some of our newer members might be interested to know that the last poster on this old thread, before yours, @Wonko The Sane, met another member -- @Snaga -- here on TTF, and they got married!

I think I have read the Lord of the Rings twice at least, the Silmarillion and Unfinished Tales all once but very thoroughly, and the Hobbit - once I confess!
I need to read it again soon. Perhaps if my family decides to watch the Hobbit trilogy again I can use those ~9+ hours to read it! 😄

I must have missed this poll back in the day. I had read Lord of the Rings countless times by then, and more now. I have still only read The Hobbit once, which was my gateway into Middle-earth. Read Unfinished Tales a few times along with selected HoME books and The Silmarillion.

I remember Wonko and the Yahoo messenger... or was that MSN... anyway, the chats we had a month or so around the time after this thread and her making Lady Rian really jealous. I think Wonko was 'insane' then. Remember she and Snaga got married, and in the days of the Hobbit movies when so many of the old gang quit showing up that they were having a child. Life I'm sure has gotten busy for them as the child would be around 13-14 now!
