I'm wanting to draw a map of the area in which I live, and I thought it would be nice to translate the actual place names into Sindarin, only problem is, I have no knowledge of Sindarin. I'll be extremely grateful for any help.

Here are some of the place names:
Great River
Land of Thunder
Mountains of the stars
Beautiful Bay
Forest Hall

Anduin is all ready this one. At least, I am fairly sure that's what it is.

Land of Thunder
Land is dôr, as in the endings to Gondor, Mordor, Eriador. I only know Quenya for thunder, which is 'hundo', so maybe something like Hundodor? Or Hundor? Not sure how roots transform.

I know Osgiliath essentially means 'Fortress of the Stars' where gil is star, and ath indicates plural. Mountain is Orod if we go by Orodruin.
So Orodgiliath? Again, unsure how the roots should transform.

Beautiful Bay
I think Umbar has relation to bay. 'Hond' is for sure havens. I only know Quenya for beautiful is vanimelda. So maybe something like Vanimbar? Or Vanimeldhond. Again, take it with a grain of salt.

Forest Hall
I know Eryn Lasgalen means Wood of Green Leaves, so maybe Eryn Seld? (I'm getting seld from Meduseld, the Golden Hall). That ending's more Rohirric than anything, but it works? I suppose?

Anyway, thought it'd be fun to give it a shot. I'll let Gilruin or whoever sort this out officially. 😉

Hond' is for sure havens
There aren't any havens or harbours here, so havens won't really work.

Some words I found on Parf Edhellen.
Not sure how to join any of them together.

Great River= Sir Daer/ Daer Sir? or just Anduin.
Land of Thunder= Dor Nan Hundo? (using the Quenya word for thunder, since there doesn't appear to be a Sindarin one)
Mountains of the stars= Ered i Gil?
Beautiful Bay (this can be either Beautiful Bay, or Bay Beautiful)= Bain Cof/ Cof Bain?
Forest Hall= Eryn Bar(meaning dwelling or home)

Great River= Sir Daer/ Daer Sir? or just Anduin.
I am not sure it would be written exactly as this, but either could work (more likely ending with Daer). Anduin is the main one.

Land of Thunder= Dor Nan Hundo? (using the Quenya word for thunder, since there doesn't appear to be a Sindarin one)
Indeed. I think this looks and sounds fine.

Mountains of the stars= Ered i Gil?
Ered works, too, instead of Orod. I don't know about the i. Gil works in any case, but I think this is only singular in the way you've written it. Like how Gil-Galad is 'Star of Radiance'.

Beautiful Bay (this can be either Beautiful Bay, or Bay Beautiful)= Bain Cof/ Cof Bain?
I like the sound of it but am not sure how the merging works. And isn't 'bain' usually used to refer to hair? Cof is fine, I believe.

Forest Hall= Eryn Bar(meaning dwelling or home)
I like this.

@Aethelwulf, This is what I meant by plural.
I believe the correct translation is: 'Citadel of the Host of Stars', from ost ("city, town") and giliath ("host of stars"). So 'giliath' is host of stars, although, now that I think about it 'host of stars' is actually the plural of star.

is a good place to mine for words. Otherwise I'd wait until @Gilruin or @Elaran or another of our linguists can show up. It might take them some time. Tagging them seems to help.

And here I am.

My suggestions would be:
Great River: Sir Dhaer, as a compound Sirdhaer, Daerhir, Siron/Sirion, Anduin
Mountains of the Star: Eryd-en-Êl, Eryd-e-Ñgil
Beautiful Bay: Côf Vain, Beingof
Forest Hall: Tham Taur, Tham Eryn,Tham-vi-Eryn, Tham-vi-Daur, Tortham

We lack a good late period word for ‘thunder’, would Dor Aglad, Aglador ‘Land of Lightening’ work for you?

If anyone is interested in the precise formations of these, or an explanation why other forms don’t work in my opinion, ask away!

Gilruin you are epic!!!
My pitiful translations cannot compare. 😂😂😂

We love you! Thank you for being such a trooper for our endless need of translations!

Oof, the mutations on some of these.

Land of Lightning works great. Its not even called The Land Of Thunder anymore, the Portuguese named it that about 300 years ago, so it doesn't really matter if I change it on the map.

That's great! Thanks a million.

Now all I need to do is draw the map, and translate the rest of the names.
