How did a penguin end up in 🕷️Shelob's lair?

Also, did anyone notice that lamb that was hanging behind Frodo when he left his sword behind? At least, if it wasn’t a lamb it looked a whole lot like one…

I bet they just went to the nearest Taxadermist and took everything he had, wrapped it in gauze, and stuck it up there for that scene.

Here's your answer...

I didn't think it was a penquin- penquins are bigger, for one thing- and I just assumed it had flown in and gotten entangled.

It wasn't a penguin. Looked to me like a member of the Sulidae. Assuming it was a New Zealand bird since the movies were filmed there, I would guess an Australasian Gannet (Morus serrator). Gannets fly quite well and nest on cliffs along the seashore. Next time I see the film I will try to remember to look more closely. End of professional lecture.

Do you work at the Wellington Natural History Museum? Have they caught them yet? (see above)

Here's your answer...The footprints were barefoot, so our investigations are leaning towards it being the work of a real nutter, or a very silly prank indeed.
I seem to remember a real barefoot nutter doing a very silly prank indeed somewhere else.
Now who was that?
