In the Pippin scene, did you catch the discrepancy with his hands?

Did anybody notice that in the scene where it looked like Pippin was about to be crushed by a horse, his hands were untied? Then in the next scene, they were tied again (like they were supposed to be).

As somebody said, but I don't remember who ( ;) ),that was one of the 119 mistakes in the movie.:)

*cough*101*cough* :rolleyes:

Indeed, this is one of the most noticeable mistakes. Most of the others are hard to see.

I noticed it too - no big deal though. Unless you're the type who watches movies for the sole purpose of picking out visual discrepancies. In that case, I can imagine this movie would cause you much heartache. But then, other great movies like Star Wars, The Ten Commandments, The Wizard of Oz and even Citizen Cane have inconsistent visuals if you concentrate hard enough. There is a whole book written about such things.

Me? I like getting into the plot and story. Little things like hands being tied and then mysteriously untied, earings being on and then mysteriously removed, etc... that stuff I don't even bother with. I don't need to give myself a complex over miniscule details. :)

I didn't notice the mistake until after I watched the movie for probably the hundreth time. I don't really care that there was a mistake in the movie. I noticed it and was just wondering if anybody else had noticed it.:D

I never noticed it because I don't notice things unless they are pointed out to me! I'll notice it now....:rolleyes:

It's one of about 150 mistakes that are listed on another site that specialises in film mistakes.
For noticability it ranks about mid-way, along with the sizes of those horses changing relative to the size of M&P.
F&S get probably the most ridiculous mistake:
the barrels in Faramir's cave that disappear between shots.
Then there is all the dialogue that is totally out of its proper time:
"over-reacting", and "nervous system", spring to mind.
PJ might just as well have left that famous car in shot at Hobbiton.

Apparently so, at first, though they got rid of it pretty soon, and it didn't reach any tape and DVD versions.
Nether Demon is right, of course, about films generally being full of mistakes. It's very odd, considering the vast amount of money that goes into making films, that they can't find a way of preventing them. If computers, for example, were sold full of faults, there'd be huge complaints;
why aren't mistakes in films important?

It isn't on the DVD or VHS because I have a VHS that I got the day FOTR was released, and it wasn't there. My friends claim that the smoke billowing up on the side of the screen is a car, but I don't think so. In the commentary, PJ claims to have never seen a car. If there was a car in the theater version I never noticed it because I was too busy watching Frodo.
