We know that in the Silmarillion in Nargothron Turin asks his comrad, Gwindor, not to reveal to anyone that he is indeed Turin son of Hurin. As it goes on when Finduilas turns her heart towards Turin from Gwindor Gwindor releases the information.
But in Lays of Beleriand Flinding go-Fuilin (an earlier name for Gwindow) proclaims the true being of Turin once surrounded by hidden attackers of Nargothrond and then a second time infront of ALL the people of Nargothrond.
Is there an explanation for this or is it just another one of Tolkien's inconsistencies?
