We know that in the Silmarillion in Nargothron Turin asks his comrad, Gwindor, not to reveal to anyone that he is indeed Turin son of Hurin. As it goes on when Finduilas turns her heart towards Turin from Gwindor Gwindor releases the information.

But in Lays of Beleriand Flinding go-Fuilin (an earlier name for Gwindow) proclaims the true being of Turin once surrounded by hidden attackers of Nargothrond and then a second time infront of ALL the people of Nargothrond.

Is there an explanation for this or is it just another one of Tolkien's inconsistencies?

I don't view it as an Inconsistancy. The Narn given in UT is pretty different from the one given in Prose in BOLT2 and in poetry in LOB. In the evolutionary process of the writing of the Narn, many things changed, many new concepts were added, many things had to be devised out of necessity due to the writing of one compact Silmarillion, which Tolkien started after he had finished the poetic form given in LOB.
