The fall of Gil-Galad

[jd_95]

In Fellowship of the Ring chapter "A Knife in the Dark" Sam recites three verses of The Fall of Gil-Galad ("Gil-Galad was elven king, of him the harpers sadly sing etc").

Aragorn says that it's a part of the lay The Fall of Gil-Galad and that he didn't know that Bilbo had translated it. Saying it's a part of it i guess there supposed to be more verses. Are they published elsewhere?

[Niniel]

I believe not. Pity isn't it, I liked those verses a lot.
