But then again, the Titanic sank over a hundred years ago.
Time can deaden a lot of bad events, or put them at such far remove that they don't seem quite real.

You know, I wonder about that.
Yes, the temptation would be there, but I have a feeling even the "class clown" would hold back.
Kind of like you wouldn't make jokes about the Towers coming down on 9/11, even some time after it happened.
I have watched comedians make jokes that exploit a disaster situation and, unless a lot of time has passed, the line generally falls pretty flat with the audience.
There are few nervous titters but mostly a thundering silence.
