Topsy, an elephant, was executed by poisoning, electrocution, and strangulation. A 74-second film of the electrocution was recorded and preserved. It may have been the first time death was ever captured in a motion picture film.
Casablanca...one of the greatest movies ever made. Stellar cast, inspired screenplay, flawless direction. From my favorite movie, Casablanca(1942). Knowing that the actors' and actresses' reactions are genuine because of what they'd actually been through in real life, this scene always gives me chills:
(at around 1h 12 mins) During the scene in which the "La Marseillaise" is sung over the German song "Die Wacht am Rhein" ("The Watch on the Rhine"), many of the extras had real tears in their eyes as a large number were actual refugees from Nazi persecution in Germany and elsewhere in Europe and were overcome by the emotions the scene brought out. The scene was copied from Jean Renoir's The Grand Illusion (1937), in which French soldiers in a German POW camp sing the song as a similar gesture of defiance. In that film the song was led by a prisoner who was in drag for a show the prisoners were putting on. The song was written in 1792 by Claude Joseph Rouget de Lisle in Strasbourg after the declaration of war by France against Austria, and was originally titled "Chant de guerre pour l'Armée du Rhin" ("War Song for the Rhine Army").
This would be Mad Magazine's §$%&@€# ... 😁TRIVIA: A Symbol Used in Place of a Curse Word Is Called a Grawlix
I like to call this series of films the Bogart / Cagney / Raft / Robinson series. Every one of them a "B-flick" by the standards of the industry (read: their boardroom trolls).Casablanca...one of the greatest movies ever made. Stellar cast, inspired screenplay, flawless direction.
Will always rank in the top ten movies on my list of favorites.

Can you name some of those A[wful]-flicks? Just curious if I'd recognize them, or had ever watched them.I like to call this series of films the Bogart / Cagney / Raft / Robinson series. Every one of them a "B-flick" by the standards of the industry (read: their boardroom trolls).
Many of them have become classics, if not all on the level of "Casablanca". Outside of hard-core film historians, almost nobody today (and even in decades past) remembers the abominable fluff that the trolls put out as "A-flicks".
Not really. I'd guess the musical genre might have been a prime perpetrator. Though that scourge continued decades after Bogart's death in 1957.Can you name some of those A[wful]-flicks? Just curious if I'd recognize them, or had ever watched them.
Did they mention what part of the stealing is attributed to mice? 🤔It’s estimated that as much as 4% of the cheese produced around the world is stolen. That equates to as much as 90.6 million tons of cheese each year.
Got some more:Trivia: Between 1912 and 1948, the Olympic Games ...
