I want to bring light to what people say about Rings of Power. Not just the data on the first week of each season. If you would be so kind as to give me your two cents on the show by taking my survey I'd greatly appreciate it. I'll come back here and post the results in about a month.

Much like other "adaptations" getting released since the pandemic and maybe even before, I find them with unoriginal and often dull writing.
The plot isn't consistent and all of it is just too much and at the same, nothing special.

I especially hate the Sauron x Galadriel relationship. I think it is destroying one of my favorite canon ships and one of my favorite plots (enemies to lovers) at the same time.

It also diminishes Celebrimbor's friendship with Sauron in his disguise and the the depth of his betrayal and demise. Basically, it ruins three amazing characters in their own rights with little to no reason or any satisfying contribution to Tolkien's great work.

People call it fanfiction, and I think it's an insult to them. There are amazing writers out there who write fanfictions (namely some of our own Youth Group here) and their stories get you hooked for days.

I also didn't like most of the fashion choices or character designs. Especially the hair.

And this is all beside the casting choices for some of the Noldor.

All in all, I don't really think I can say I hate it. I guess I don't really care about it at this point, and won't be wasting my time on watching it.
Some enjoyed it, and I respect their opinion.

Did the survey. :)

I kinda felt bad for Sauron.
He wanting to date that spoiled brat Galadriel, wouldn't turn around good for him (or anyone else, for that matter).

It is an ok adaption of Middle-earth kind of in the way the Shadow of Mordor game is.
Not even close, imho.
If PJ adaptation is 10 miles away from Tolkien work, let's say Shadow of Mordor is 100 miles away... then Rings of Power is other galaxy away from professors work.

I filled out the survey. When it comes to Rings of Power, I can take it or leave it, but will eventually watch it.

In your humble opinion yes. Not mine. To each their own. *shrug*

Wow. Someone has actually finally posted a question about Rings of Power on which there is something I can say.

"What say you about Rings of Power?"

I say nothing about Rings of Power.
But posting to say nothing is saying something. 😆

Personally, I think that Rings of Power is awful. The story was terrible. The romance is awful. The casting wasn't done well. The acting is horrible. People watch shows for entertainment or good stories, not for lectures and politics that get shoved in your face. If they had made their own completely different universe, I wouldn't care as much, tho I'd still think it was horrible.

Of course, this is just my personal opinion, not saying you have to agree.

Well, to get it out of the way, the visuals are great and the show is entertaining.

The song the Wandering days in season 1 is one of the best I've ever listened to.

Now the wrongs, they didn't just adapt the books, they killed the plot.

Examples are multiple:

1) Galadriel wasn't a warrior, that wasn't her power, she did fight to defend her people in Alqualonde but that's it.
2) When Elendil, or Ar Pharazon, or Tar Miriel were born, Celebrimbor was long dead (about 2000 years).
3) No mention of Elros, who was Elrond's brother and Numenor's first king.
4) That orc like guy (can't remember his name and I am too lazy to look it up) doesn't exist.
5) Galadriel never met Sauron face to face, except maybe in Valinor (way, way before).
6) The whole backstory of Sauron pretending to be a deposed king is invented.
7) Gandalf didn't come to Middle Earth in the second age.
8) The evil wizard in season 2 didn't exist. (could assume to be Alatar or Pallando, but Tolkien said very little about them).
9) Eregion was destroyed by Sauron, not rogue orcs trying to kill Sauron.

I could go on and on.

Looks like bashing Rings of Power is back on the menu. I don't find it all that bad. Don't find it all that good either. One thing is this whole waiting two years for a 'season' of eight episodes is ridiculous. Amazon should just green light the next two seasons so they can get on with production and let the chips fall where they may and be done with it.
