What would 🧙Gandalf have done?

I was wondering about this: what would Gandalf have doen if he still had been with Frodo when they came to Mordor? What way would he have chosen to get to Mount Doom?
Faramir says that Gandalf would not have taken the road along Cirith Ungol, and Gandalf himself is shocked when he hears Frodo is going that way. But apart from that and the Black gate there are no other roads into Mordor. It is never said that Gandalf has any idea of where they should go, but I don't believe he had not thought about it. He must have had some idea what to do.

I think he actually had no idea what he was going to do exactly. But I think the only reason why he was shocked to hear that Frodo had gone through Cirith Ungol was because Frodo was a small hobbit and quite fragile. If Gandalf himself had gone with Frodo to CU, avec all the others of the Fellowship, they might have killed or driven Shelob away. (By the way, does anybody know if there is an 'Elvish' name for Shelob?) At the same time they might have captured Gollum, who they would have shut up for the rest of the Quest.
If they hadn't gone that way, I have no idea where else they could go. Well, I suppose they might swing all the way around to South Gondor and through some of the perilous mountainous ranges into Nurn, and then they might have slowly and warily (and wearily) up north for hundreds of miles to Orodruin. But I dunno. :)

I think Gandalf knew that the fellowship wouldn't be able to stay together. I'm sure he had no intentions of entering through the Black gate, but he would have taken Frodo through Cirith Ungol himself (remember, stealth was the key to getting the ring into Mordor). He was shocked that Frodo would go that way because Frodo didn't know about that way to get in.

I think Gandalf would go with Frodo and Sam through CU,because that's was the only possible way, actually. He shocked cause he probably had known about Gollum's friend.....and he was wondering whether Frodo would manage to pass through the way without his help.

IMHO, Gandalf was taking things as they came, and letting time show the best way to get to Orodruin. This is not hard proof, but Aragorn believed Gandalf had no clear purpose of what the Fellowship should do after Lothlorien.

i think that if he were there his ideas would be influenced by aragorn which means the same thing wud have happened.

I think Gandalf was shocked because he knew about Gollum's good fellow and he was worrying whether Frodo and Sam would pass.I believe he would go with them through CU cause that was the only way in fact.
