Which age had more mystical elements: the first or the third?

There is a subject that all Tolkien fans argue a lot among themselves. Was the first age or the third age bigger? First of all, every age had differences that other ages did not have. Each age had its own unique atmosphere. But every age had an anti from other ages. For example, the third age equivalent of dragons were fellbeasts. In the third age there were not only balrogs, dragons and valar. But like mumakils uruk-hais olog-hais there were more advanced beings of their kind. Apart from that, wargs, werewolves, trolls and orcs existed in both ages. The most important feature that distinguishes the first age from the third age was more fantastic and mystical. because there were more magical beings. However, in the wars of the third age, the army population was more. You can think of it like the universe we live in had more population in the second world war than in medieval wars. It may be true that the wars in the third age were not more numerous in terms of the number of armies. But there is no reason not to consider it more crowded as the third age orc and human population is larger than in other ages. It doesn't matter if it's not crowded because the atmosphere is the same and every being in previous ages has an anti. In short, the first age was magical, the third age less magical. Because the first age was magical, there were bigger wars. But in the third age, every being had a less magical or stronger anti. Already, the prophecy of dagor dagorath came true after the third age. that is, beings from all ages participated. so even though the third age was less magical, since dagor dagorath was a continuation of the third age, the magical atmosphere still existed in the third age. I hope you liked the topic. If there is a point that you disagree with, let's talk. I think this topic will end the race between the third age and the first age.

Disagree.
Universe we live in is a more advanced as time progresses (at least in military terms), while in Tolkien universe, the older the age, the stronger beings it have (from all races and creatures)
That being said, I think small army of Noldors (maybe like the one that followed Feanor), could wipe out every single army of orcs and men, and ekves, and dwarfs from the third age, imho.

Yes it may be true but in the third age all beings in the first age had antis. and there was still magic, though not as much as in the first age. the only difference between them is that the first age is more magical and the wars are bigger. The third age is less magical and the wars are smaller. But in the third age it has first age entities (except balrogs and dragons) and antis of first age beings. that's it.

This is an interesting endeavor, but is there really a way to know?

Great in what way? In the spiritual qualities gifted to the inhabitants of nature? In the work of craftsmanship? Strength of arms?

What are you defining?
