You all seem to be much more comprehensive, and much faster, readers than I.
I'm still working on Michael Crichton's "Jurassic Park." (though of course I've added more
books for specific purposes and research... 'just reading' time is sparse.)
I confess, at first I was noticing how very different the book Jurassic Park is compared to the move. Noting too, the movie even brings in some things from his 2nd book and pushes them into the first movie.
However, what I'm noting now is how very cleverly the makers of the movie did some of what they did, weaving salient pieces together into a coherent work that, movie wise, does hold together in spite of its differences from the book(s).
Does it 'hold together' in the same way? Oh no.
Are the characters presented the same way Crichton presented them, personality wise etc? Oh no. (Hammond, for example, is an extremely different character..!!)
But...it holds together.
So like with TH, LoTR and even
RoP, I am chained to the books as the source material, yet able to enjoy the movies for what they were made to be, in spite of the differences.
Anyway, I admire all of you and your ability to consume stuff as quickly as you do (and continue to add new stuff to my library as a result of your posts).
Thank you.
