Mandos was a nice host.

A Golden Dragon…perhaps a distant relative of Glaurung–The Great Worm

I took this photo several years ago. I leaned a sheet of plywood or something off the ground and was quite surprised to find this fellow had been resting underneath it. Then it just looked at me with an expression of annoyance on its face.

I’m fairly sure this is a copperhead. The copperhead is a venomous snake in the pit viper sub family.

Now that really is a coincidence! We found an adder under our deck, yesterday!

I do the same, until its an 80cm long muscle, with venom that will rot the flesh off my bones, and its living under the house.
Yeah. I'd probably do the same for the copperheads if their venom was extra bad or if their numbers got out of control. As it stands now, I think I see one maybe once every few years.

This is at my country cabin where rats and mice getting into the engine compartment of my truck are more of a problem. So, the snakes are a benefit to keep the rodent populations down.

The mischievous hobgoblins of my existence…the pack rats. (At least that’s what I call ‘em.)

I captured this one last night under the house. It’s fortunate (for it) that I have a kindly disposition. I’ll be walking it about a mile away this morning, after my morning tea, for release with stern instructions forbidding return.

When I was a kid (under 9 years old), I lived in a small, very remote town. There were lots of animals roaming around: wild ones like red kangaroos, feral goats, snakes and lizards, and ones that belonged to people like cats and dogs.

There was one dog in particular who was called 'Cruiser', probably because he was always cruising around the town. He apparently did belong to someone (though he had no collar), but they let him roam around free, so I always saw him by himself. Thinking back on him, he would have made a perfect Huan, in my opinion.
He was very big, and his head shape was like that of a pit bull (so very large jaws). His short fur was white with some brown patches, and he had one brown eye and one bright blue eye. Cruiser never barked or growled, and in fact I never heard any noise from him at all. I suppose as he was a 'free range' dog, he wasn't territorial over anything. And even though I was usually wary of all dogs, I wasn't scared of this one, even if he was big and could almost look me in the eye.

One time, my small kitten was facing off against Cruiser, all fluffed up, trying to get him out of our garden. The dog probably would have been able to swallow him in one gulp, but he just looked down at him with mild curiosity and eventually went away on his own. I was proud of the bravery of my cat, but I knew the dog was not a dangerous one. Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of this Very Respectable Boy. ('Good Boy' does not quite suit him, as I never saw him answer to anyone)

Gwaihir The Windlord, captured on my game camera last February. I'm not 100% certain, but I think this is a Golden Eagle (the same as the Middle-earth eagles.) I like his closeup view looking into the camera.

Note: Hopefully it's not a problem for anyone, but I'll warn that there is a deer carcass in view (apparently died of natural causes). Don't watch if you're squeamish or let me know if I should remove the post...don't want to break any rules. Also, @Tyelkormo the Fair , please let me know if you'd prefer this not to be on your thread.

Within a span of a week or so, the unfortunate deer attracted this eagle, a hawk, a bobcat, vultures, crows, and some stray dogs gone wild.

@Eljorahir, Lovely eagle! Thank you for sharing the video. Also, I could barely tell the deer carcass was there, since it blends in with its surroundings with the quality of the camera footage, so I don’t think it should be too big of a problem. It’s in the bottom left corner, yes?

Yes, the deer is in the lower left of this image.

We had a second camera looking from a different perspective which captured some clips of the eagle feeding. In those, the bird appears just a little smaller than the deer. It's a big bird, for sure.
