What are you watching?

This is right up there too, at least for me.
I know there were criticisms that Emma Thompson was too old for the part, but that didn't bother me.
YES! I love Sense & Sensibility. One of my favorite movies I have watched. I think it was a really good movie. I really like Jane Austen's works. I think I've seen most of the movies and read some of the books. Sense and Sensibility and P&P I have most certainly read and seen. IIn fact, I think it's time for a reread. I'm always reading something by Tolkien, so it's hard to squeeze in other books though 😂.

I have to admire Jane Austen's titles, too. She came up with such marvelous names for her books.

You ought to read Emma (if you haven't already).
I can never decide which is my favorite, P&P or Emma.
I guess I will have to keep re-reading them and eventually one will take precedence...or not. 😄

. I clearly remember thinking, "Who is this guy? He is amazing to watch but especially to hear...what delivery!"
That moment when he says "No doubt --", pauses, then quietly repeats " -- No doubt . . ." , showing he's aware of the gossip. Wow.

Yes, I should get to reading Emma. I have watched it several times, and I really, really like it. i always get the theme song stuck in my head. Those are also my two favorites. I like P&P the best, personally. I know more about it, watched both versions (my favorite is the version posted), and like it better. It was a really tough choice, but I managed to choose between them after a long time 😂.

I was rewatching Planes, Trains, and Automobiles last night—nothing like John Candy turning a rental car into an inferno of pure Midwestern determination—and it reminded me of the galactic remake they show on the outer-rim channels: Ships, Wormholes, and Unlicensed Grav-Scooters.

Same basic plot structure, just… adjusted.

Instead of missing a flight, the protagonist accidentally boards a sentient star-yacht that keeps trying to convert him to its wellness cult. The “train” equivalent is a dimension-hopping wormhole that swears it knows a shortcut, only to spit them out in the lobby of a cosmic DMV that’s been open since the Second Age of Nebulae and forces you to read the stories before recipes on webpages in order to advance in line. And the galactic John Candy figure is a six-eyed fluff-beast named Del’rath who sells artisanal asteroid crumbs and thinks personal space is a hostile myth.

Still ends with a tear, a hug, and someone’s vehicle engulfed in cleansing plasma-fire. Some traditions are universal.

For the past month, all of my friends have been spontaneously singing things like "This life is amaaaazing when you greet it with open arms" and "keep your friends close and your enemies closer 👀" during completely normal conversations that had nothing to do with songs. Also, whenever they saw any type of backpack or handbag, they would go "ALL I GOTTA DO IS OPEN THIS BAG". Eventually, for the sake of my sanity, I decided to watch Epic the Musical so I could finally figure out what they were going on about.

IT WAS... EPIC

I have since re-listened to it 3 times in one week. Definitely one of the best things I've ever watched.

Only problem: my friends have now moved on to Hamilton
*sigh*

Yes, people are always moving on aren't they. (sniff!)
But not me, no sirreee. Not Lobelia B. S-B.
Not until I get Bag End. (Or jailed, or something.)

I suppose I'm gonna need to pay attention to these movies now. (sniff!)
Maybe there are some things worth taking out of here.

(Though I see that Ent is still spouting poetry, and the spaceman is still hanging around.)

We'll see. We'll just see.

I watched a movie called Battleship. Very odd. Something about aliens and invasions. Been seeing a lot of those around the Shire lately. Ruffians I say, ruffians..! @Klaatu may know something about it.

Can't say if the thing was any good. But not one umbrella in the lot.

Battleship, you say? I remember that incident well. The real one, not the cinematic reenactment where all the aliens look like they were carved out of a meteor by an over-caffeinated apprentice.

Those fellows weren’t invading, mind you—they were just trying to return a library book they’d borrowed from the Interstellar Maritime Museum of Disfigured Dust Bunnies (MMDDB for short). Lovely place, smells like old salt and eggplants, not fun for those allergic to dust (go figure). Unfortunately, their translation software mistakenly registered Earth’s naval exercises as a formal declaration of “WATER WAR,” which is a very serious affair in their culture. One is looked at as cowardly to ignore it. They were simply responding with their overly-technical water balloons, which coincidentally explode on impact and leave the victims thirsty.

Not a single umbrella, though? That tracks. Those particular visitors have a crippling phobia of umbrellas ever since an unfortunate diplomatic incident involving a collapsible parasol and a black hole shaped suspiciously like an iPad.

If you happen to see any more peculiar lights over the Shire, do let me know. Could be ruffians. Could be aliens. Could be that same fellow who keeps trying to parallel park his saucer on top of The Green Dragon. Hard to say.

I have been watching the movie behind the scenes appendices for Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings movies. Fascinating.
OH yess, i watched that. It was very interesting.

I just watched Wicked: For Good. I would say I liked it better than the first movie ONLY because I think the general plotline of the second act is better. They had great singers, but idk if Ariana Grandes performance with Glinda was that good in the second movie. Also, it was rlly sad until it wasn't. Like, tin man was like sooo scary. Also, Nessa was so annoying. "We deserve each other. Me and BOQ." So, I was kinda glad when the house dropped on her head. But Boq was also annoying. Like, "Hey, Nessa? Uh, Nessa. Listen, Nessa." Like, bro, just shut up. like u waited like a year to break up with her and tell her that u never loved her. man up bro. And literally the last scene with Glinda and Elphaba was SUPER sad. But ive always had this one problem with wicked. I think Elphaba shouldve died. I mean, im srry, but now it just ruins the sad moment. Like, how come the Wicked Witch doesnt die? I mean, she wasnt actually that wicked, but thats teh point. Like the wizard of oz is now ruined for me. Like, THE WICKED WITCH IS THE WIZARDS DAUGHTER??? That was insane. and tin man is terrifying. and scarecrow is fiyero, which means now in the wizard of oz, SCARECROW IS IN LOVE WITH ELPHABA. just insane to think about. and who made up no good deed?

Well. Ent watched Battleship again last night, as a 'mindless background piece' while doing other things.
Interestingly, he still noted things not noted before. The biggest thing... the speech given by the Admiral at the end, where he is handing out medals.

What's interesting to Ent? He says the awards are being given due to bravery and action in the face of an overwhelming enemy force.

This sent Ent to his dictionaries and etymologies of course. Because in the end, it was the Aliens who were 'overwhelmed.'

HOWEVER: the term 'overwhelming' has come to mean less than it used to - the gradual 'watering down' of the original meanings of things. So... while Ent first thought the Admiral had simply used an inappropriate word, he must now agree the term could apply in its (unfortunate) current usage.

The movie? On a scale of 1 to 10, Ent would give it a.....

Oh, sorry sir @Alexander Scamilton - those familiar with Ent know such a thing means the jury is still out and Ent is still pondering.
We must not be hasty.
It usually takes Ent quite a few readings, or watchings, to come forward with anything definitive

Would this be classified as a "recurring occurrence", therefore?

a "recurring occurrence"
the term would seem to fit the circumstance.
as with Gandalf calling the big rock with steps "the Carrock," Ent would certainly be willing to call it as you see fitting.

(This is a bit of an 'inside thing' folks, as Glorfindel and Ent have a PM discussion in progress on several points, within which Gandalf's calling the Carrock the Carrock, why, and what Tolkien demonstrates by the events, play a part.)

No way. It takes me one watching to rate the movie. Like no way u rewatch movies just to... like you've seen the movie. Therefore, can't you just give me a rating? Cuz Im crossing things off my list. Don't wanna run out of time before I wake up and find there was a good movie that I missed. My limit doesn't exist. Like, I'm sure you get me. I don't wanna live with "what ifs", "might haves" "Could havе been if I had, only tried not held back". And I always love taking movie recommendations. I do take book recommendations too, but like ive been super busy lately, so i only have time to watch movies. Like wicked for example. Id recommend it. I mean, it's not like amazing, and its a little ya know... modern let's just say. and its not for old people. have any of u watched it?
