Yes, he was.

*Asfaloth whinnies and whinnies again*

He says the book will greatly aid you. He also says it is time for his ride I promised him. I must uphold it and will give you time to ponder.

*Bows and mounts Asfaloth* Namárië!

So does it specifically say he dies of natural causes?

does he die by the hand of another?

(You do have to explain how the clue relates. *Coughs*)
(I wasn't at home yesterday, and half of today, so I only just saw this)
He took a vow: Folca vowed to hunt no animal while a single orc remained in Rohan
kept it: Folca destroyed every orc in Rohan
and took an L: Once he had fulfilled his oath, he hunted the great Boar of Everholt, which he slew, but he received his death wound from the beast

Excellently explained! When I read this in the appendix, I actually laughed out loud for the irony though sympathized with the guy. My humorous view on it won out though, hence the clue.

*Asfaloth gallops up and whinnies, jingling his bells vigorously*

Asfaloth congratulates you and says it is your turn. 😊
