Yes, yes, yes, once again a topic concerning the long-suffering Doriath.
Well, masters Eldalië and Atanatári, here's a question - who then raided and massacred the dwarves just plundered Doriath? Fëanorians? Beren (with Ents - yep, I'd like to see that)? Furious Melian?? Or a bored Lúthien, suddenly coveting a nice pretty gem?? Which version did JRRT ultimately favor?
The History of Middle-earth has been read, including volumes 10-11, including the Tale of Years, I mean every-all tales of years, including from the War of the Jewels.
The letter "About.... the Hoard" has been considered. There are many versions, but which one should be considered at least approximately final?
Perhaps it is more likely that the Professor eventually preferred the scenario where Feanor's sons attacked the dwarves-robbers coming from Doriath? In that case, Nauglamir with the Silmaril goes to Beren from Melian, and the Fëanorians are left with nothing.
Well, what do you think about it?
Ahahh, it seems no one cares who stole what from whom or why they murdered monsieur Thingol ;D
However, perhaps someone will be interested in the results of my humble research on the subject. There are excellent narrative explorations of the Tolkien books by Dr. Corey Olsen on YouTube, literally page by page. So, the various versions of The Ruin of Doriath are discussed in the Midgard Academy lectures on "The War of the Jewels", sessions #15-#18.
