I love making all kinds of art (writing, 2D art, 3D things) so this is where I will post it. I added a thread in The Red Book of Westmarch, but I think it was a bit hasty and inadequate. Also, I would love to be able to discuss what I post with other members.
(I plan to change my forum name to the above if you are wondering.)

I'll repost this poem I wrote for now:

The Moon

Silver, sad or simply healing, sighing, flowing, seems weary of its life.
Best told by its ways, wanderings, whispers?
Like reeds on a lapping shore more beautiful by its light.
Like its guise - mysterious, foamy, preserving man’s adventures.
Like a long, drawl howl of a wolf speaking to it.
Like a lonely soul in its still, quiet presence.
Like cold blue steel flashing in its cool, silver streams.
Like its stealing through some cavern’s crack into a lonely pool.
Like its revealing forgotten holes for treasure, diamond flashing, guarded by beasts.
Like a perilous trek up snowy mountains in a blizzard.
Like its unfailing company to the many, piercing, cheerful stars.
Like a forgotten prisoner weary of life, in deep dungeons, long moldy, choking, bare.
Like a half forgotten tale, whispered among ancient beings, veiled by time.
Like a clear, true, silver laugh echoing in great halls.
Revealing, and concealing, comforting, quavering, go its streaming shafts.

In case you weren't aware, there is a separate discussion section in the Red Book, where people create threads to discuss their writings. :)

I really like the mental images conjured up by this poem. Mysterious and melancholy, but also beautiful, they do match the Moon.

Silver rose, sad or simply healing, sighing, flowing, seems weary of its life.
Best told by its ways, wanderings, whispers?
Like reeds on a lapping shore more beautiful by its light.
Like its guise - mysterious, foamy, preserving man’s adventures.
Like pure, crystal light peeping from under a dark mantle.
Like a long, drawl howl of a wolf speaking to it.

The last light of day, ruler of the night, ever the silver wanderer.

I did a few revisions and researched the moon a bit, particularly the moon in Tolkien's works.
(Its always fun to learn more and bring inspiration from it into your art.)

Bombur is finished! Its a clay ornament for my Dad. I had a mishap with the face and had to get out some paint but it seems fine now. Off to the wrapping paper...

He looks very recognisable! I like his face, and I think the small details like his bag and the braid for his beard are quite impressive. I haven't used clay often, but small details can be difficult.

I wrote this poem a few months ago:

In the Cool of the Day

A morning meadow tended by Man,
Fresh and cool, inviting to the passerby.
Wide it stretches, wandering, floating,
Gentle and fragrant it holds a spell,
Unfolded by rolling mist making anew,
Made seen by the sparkling glow in the sky.

The meadow-waters - swaying, flowery, light and dewy
Full of splashes of sweet spices and perfumes,
Carried by meadow-ships - the soft winds.
Life abounds in the rustling grasses, hidden.
Into the lush meadow-waves dive bunny-tails,
Past cattails wavering wherein breathe
Croaks and songs of the meadow music-makers.
Caws from crows, and melodies spun by yellowthroats
And swallows, danced to by woodcocks, bass filled in
By humming in the depths of the grasses.
All marshy, sweet, and hidden meadow-creatures
Seem unaware of things outside their pleasant, perfumed meadow-acres.

In this cool of the day the spell whispers on and on
Only broken by the speech of creaking branches.
But they add in a music of their own.
The red-green shadow-beauty of the evergreens
Form rain alive beneath their arms
From night old dew upon their fingers,
Though clouds above loose not their streams as yet.
Startling, a troupe of brown disappears with a leap
And a flash of white, pounding into the misty undergrowth,
Lush, cool green-blue streaked by dark trunks,
A vast realm skimming the gates of the meadow.
Suddenly, a wind sends warning of a meadow-storm.
All is still as it coaxes the grasses and blows warm,
Shadow-clouds across the blushed, wakening sky.

Ah, the music in the cool of the day!
All rushes, sighs, flutters, sings to the Great Maker.
It remembers long ago, yet not forgotten,
Yearned for, and not far away,
A time with the Great Creator
Who then once wound the meadow’s spell,
To soothe the passerby in the cool of the day.

Well, seeing the swan, my first thoughts were of Dol Amroth (LOTR) and Alqualondë (Silmarillion), if this is Middle-earth inspired.
And then I thought of Tuor, who follows swans to Turgon's deserted realm of Vinyamar, and finds a sword, shield and armour there. The shield had a swan on it, apparently. I think that would be my best guess for what inspired this picture.

I really like the shadows and lighting, particularly on the left side of the picture with the pillars and narrow windows. I've visited a lot of old buildings (like castles and cathedrals), and it reminded me instantly of those.

You got it! It is named Guided by Swans. It actually somewhat formed on its own; I came to the shield and decided a swan would fit well on it. Then later I added the swan motifs. It was not really until the end that I thought it reminded me strikingly of Tuor in Vinyamar.

Beautiful and realistic colours! I also like the rough, almost wool-like texture created by the brush strokes. It gives a feeling of warmth to look at it.
Wow, you are right, I did not realize that! 😃 Incredible! Thank you for pointing that out. I was unsure of how I wanted the background and this felt best. It's even more apparent in real life.

My brothers, mom, and I made ‘Gandalf pipes’ a few years ago with my [amazing] grandfather (who does woodworking). We created a design, cut out the halves, carved them by hand, and glued them together. As far as functionality, it is hollow throughout and the proper size, but was made with pine. The inside could be more precise also. At the end we stained them. Actually, I think I was relatively new to Middle-earth. This one is mine; they are nearly a foot long.
