“From what I have observed of his overly muscular figure and incredibly stupid decision to ride in the woods alone at night while wounded, I have concluded that he spends far more time in athletic pursuits than in developing the mind.”

However, he really needs to learn boundaries regarding personal space. 😒

Maitimo stared at her forlornly. “I’m not hungry.”

Aranya widened her eyes at him, looking as sad and pathetic as a kicked puppy, and even Nolofinwë felt an uncomfortable guilt when looking at her. “But I went all the way to the kitchen to get you this! It’s just a warm, mild, beef broth. Very comforting. I just wanted to share some of that comfort with you. Is my effort going to be wasted?”

“Well… no…” Maitimo sighed, winced, and avoided Aranya’s gaze. She and Nolofinwë carefully helped him sit up, and Aranya placed the tray on his lap. “I’m sorry. I don’t mean to scorn your kindness.”

“Don’t apologize. Just eat,” Aranya said bluntly.

I pictured both Maitimo and Aranya doing sad puppy eyes at each other here. 😂🥺

Poor Maitimo, the only thing that can bypass his stubbornness is guilt. At least this tendency is here being used for his benefit? 😅🥲


Something I always enjoy about your writing is all these small character moments where they're just interacting with each other, and it's not necessarily about a big momentous event or a significant turning point in the plot.
I never know what's going to happen next, which increases my enthusiasm to read on, and your characterisations are charming. Except for the irritating or odious individuals, of course.
