I definitely no longer have the reading stamina of 28 years ago, or even 18 or 8.

The sleep apnea I was diagnosed with 9 years ago definitely was singularly unhelpful.

Sorry. Not an easy burden to shoulder, apnea.

This question doesn't really fit the thread but I didn't know where else to post it and want to give it its own post. Anyway, has anyone ever heard of this? I couldn't find anything about it, but the question also appears on Reddit.

Previously, in the early 70s, Jim Henson briefly flirted with the idea of adapting The Lord of the Rings book series. How many of you would have loved to have seen this?

Seems to me I vaguely remember hearing/reading something about it...can't say where or when, tho'.....
Just found this (or maybe you already saw it) Muppet "LOTR"

Radaghast · Jun 21, 2024

No, I'd never seen that. Thanks for posting.

Hey, Realizing Tolkien was a man of his time would he have walked in the pride parade, or would both dwarf women and dwarf men be free pickings?

I've come to the conclusion that the English used by people making Quora enquiries does not even remotely resemble the English I use.

What ineffable twaddle!

Who is the best, most skilled and greatest warrior in the history of Middle-earth? Turin Turambar or Fingolfin or Ecthelion or Glorfindel or Feanor or Fingon or Hurin or Earendil or Eönwe or Beren or Finrod or Turgon or Thingol or Finarfin or Tuor?

Glorfindel Goldtress · Jun 23, 2024

Radaghast said:

1. Kindly remove Thingol and Túrin. No place for them here.

2. That's quite the variety of Elves, Men, and Maia. What scale is this on?

3. It's obviously Glorfindel. 😉

Tulkas. He would have swatted all of them, plus Ungoliant, plus Morgoth, plus Sauron, plus all Balrogs, ... using Ancalagon as a fly swatter. 😬

Andromadus the Invictus · Jun 24, 2024

Unpopular opinion, Bard the Bowman of Esgaroth.

I'm a bit partial to the men of Laketown 😂

Yeah, that is what I wondered as well. The raw capability to destroy your enemies? The number of foes killed? Which weapon? Sword, spear or even bare hands? Maybe even considering wits?

In LOTR, magic faded as a result of the destruction of the Ruling Ring. Could the loss of magical defences against Nameless Things resulted in an invasion by them, as they predated the Ring, and therefore would not have been affected by its passing?

See... I told you... it's not English.
(Or maybe it's an "alternate Universe" English....🙄)

Radaghast · Jun 28, 2024

Why would Lady Galadriel take the one ring from Frodo by force?

I don't like being mean, but in the face of some of these things, feel this is appropriate:
