Use this thread for jokes and memes that do NOT relate to Tolkien.

Keep things appropriate or we'll have to sick Grond on you ;)

Some people (a lot, actually) don't leave enough space between their car and the car in front of them.
The rule is: The 3 second gap (Google it if necessary)
Depends on the speed you're driving at. Some parts (not nearly all!) of the German Autobahn have no speed limit.
And as today Bavaria was the last of the federal states beginning the school summer vacation, oodles of people will be wishing for a minimum speed, as all too often the reading will be zero.
'Course, nowadays one can use the cellphone to call somebody about the situation - most likely saying something like "I'm stuck in a traffic jam!"
Wrong.
You are the traffic jam!

Depends on the speed you're driving at...
Yes it does.
It's a starting point. I.e., it is used to calculate recommended following distance in the US for speeds up to 40mph.
At higher speeds the recommendation is to add 1 second for every additional 10mph.

That particular bar, at that particular height, was mandated for large trucks (in the U.S. anyway) after the death of Jayne Mansfield. She had driven her car into the back of a semi and, as there was nothing to keep the car from continuing to move under the truck bed, she was decapitated when the windshield (and she) hit said truck bed. Nasty.

Mostly true....not quite decapitation (Wiki it).
Still, a horrible death, and the "bar requirement" came about because of it.

Right.
Though a rule of thumb needing you to look at a watch to see if you pass something fixed at the side of the road three seconds (or more) later than the car ahead is something with a potential for distraction from keeping your eye on the road that I'm uncomfortable with.
60 mph (the speed limit outside of city limits when not on an Autobahn) would mean 5 seconds by your rule of thumb.
60 mph is a mile a minute; respectively 1,760 yards, or 5,280 feet. Or 29.3. yards or 88 feet in a second, so in 5 seconds you cover 146.7 yards or 440 feet. The hackles on the back of my neck are stiff as wire. A football field and a half while you're not doing the job that takes absolute priority when you're driving, keeping your eyes on the road. I'll add 50% to that, because 90 mph = 145 kph is leisurely cruising speed for me on the Autobahn (or used to be).
So now you're at 8 seconds, 234.7 yards, 704 feet ... 😬🥶😱🤯
