Yes...I found the LOTR books slightly boring because I willingly abandoned them to read The Silmarillion instead. And since then, I've never gone back to the LOTR books...

(but hey, on second thought I probably won't, just in case one day I change my mind - quite unlikely - oh, and we all know how oaths turned out in the Silmarillion....definitely not the best consequences...)
