(I know they would all actually be in jail for murder, but don't get technical with me about it!)

First time i sat down to read it in my young 20s. I had hard time getting it too.
Strategy is
1: Learn the name of each valar
2: Remember each role of the valar
3: After that its easy.

My strategy was to look at lots and lots of fanart while I read. That made it pretty clear in my mind who is who!
