Tolkien Artwork

[Maedhros_Nelyafinwë]

Maybe I'm exhausted from my trip but this art is making me very emotional 😭

Especially in light of the caption provided on the blog I found it from: "This is the moment Maedhros, clutching the silmaril in his hand, cast himself into the chasm of fire. As the flames took him, he saw his family. His father and brothers who fell before him, his mother’s bright spirit reaches out to comfort him, and Maglor, who dwelt still in Middle-earth, is symbolized by the harp."

That caption makes the picture all the more powerful and sad, seeing it all culminate to this in poor Maedhros’ life, as he casts himself away, and his family greets him beyond death.😭

This style is called surnaturalism and was created by Master Farshchian and became his signature over the years
This piece is not related to the Silmarillion but I really want to see an art based on it in this style
Especially the battles

[Squint-eyed Southerner]

You could have said that was Varda, and I doubt anyone would know otherwise. 😁

[LaurelinBearsFruit]

I am just going to pretend that it is Varda haha. It couldn't be more accurate honestly.

I believe she is actually a goddess,Anahita goddess of water, fertility healing and earth
I might be wrong though but that was the first thing that came to my mind...

[Tyelkormo the Fair]

I checked and yep that's her!

Very interesting , as I think that the water in the painting looks much more like stars and nebulas. Nonetheless a very beautiful image.

A beautiful piece of art! I too agree that she could have passed as a version of Varda. But to imagine battles portrayed in that style would be amazing! I can see that working, for sure.

Me too! Master Farshchian is a national treasure!

[Maglor Kanafinwë]

A cute picture of Finwe's grandsons. I couldn't find the artist, but it was posted here on pinterest:

[Fingon_Findekáno]

I’ve never been able to find the artist’s name either, but I know they’ve done quite a bit of artwork for Silmarillion characters, mostly the Finwians. I like the majority of their art, though!

[Maglor Kanafinwë]

Yeah, I especially like Curufin's facial expression there. The Little Father. He really carries himself like Fëanor's son here.

[Fingon_Findekáno]

Indeed he does, so serious for one so young! Celegorm and Caranthir crack me up too, making faces at each other like that.🤣 Ah, siblings!

The artist name is CHOISTAR and I believe they're active in weibo
