Well, c'mon now 🙄... the Council at Rivendell is a lot more solemn than the kitchen at Bag End.LOTR Marathon via audiobook today. I have a 14ish hour drive to get through. I'm in the Council of Elrond right now. It never ceases to amuse me how Gandalf won't read the ring's inscription aloud in Bag End, and then goes right ahead and chants the whole poem in Black Speach in Elrond's house, just for the shock value 🤣
Can confirm normal. Have had my mom's 14-digit library card number memorized since elementary school years. Thought it might be a homeschooling thing. I still use hers because it's what I know. 😂I've memorized the number on the barcode... I'm sure that's a totally normal and not at all weird thing to do...
I also have mine memorized. I've found it easier than carrying around a card. Also, it's fun to imagine myself as some sort of secret agent when I type it into the keypad.Actually, I don't even need my library card anymore... I've memorized the number on the barcode... I'm sure that's a totally normal and not at all weird thing to do...
So, you liked it? Or, at least, would you recommend it?Many years ago. Think Silmarillion, rather than LOTR -- much less Hobbit, which makes sense, considering its inspiration in the Icelandic sagas.
I read the revised edition published by Ballantine in 1971.
The issue with the vast bulk of other writers, compared to Tolkien. Now that doesn't mean Herbert isn't a great writer and a great world builder but I do think Tolkien gives you so much more than just the plot and setting.
