Ain't no Greeks ever lived in no attics!Homeric Greek is different from Attic Greek, and would require special study to read.
Is this derived from the Greek word Koinonia meaning Fellowship?Koine Greek

But in Attica, the peninsula on which Athens is located, which goes back at least to the Mycenaean period ending in the Bronze Age collapse around 1200 BC.Ain't no Greeks ever lived in no attics!
I never took Greek (only Latin) but had friends who studied "Classics" (reading Homer and the Greek playwrights and poets) and they always referred to the language as "Classical Greek", (it not being Koine Greek or modern Greek)
I wasn't equating Koine greek with modern Greek. But in Attica, the peninsula on which Athens is located, which goes back at least to the Mycenaean period ending in the Bronze Age collapse around 1200 BC.
Koine Greek was spoken during the Hellenistic period following the Classical one, so after Alexander. And it's the Greek of the Septuagint an the New Testament.
I always thought this was Lewis' greatest work, outside of his academic work, though it's been a long while since I read it. I would love to hear your thoughts on it.Till We Have Faces, C. S. Lewis
it's based on the tale of Eros and Psyche
It's just from Koinos, "common" -- as in "common dialect".Maybe S-e-S knows.

❤️ thanks! I love the wisdom you post on here. You're like our very own TTF Gandalf, curmudgeonly and wise, keeping all us newbies on the straight and narrow!Since I see by a post elsewhere from @Firiel23 that I seem to be expected to supply links, here's something Tolkien-related from a Greek member:
