Who played the extra 🧝elves at the Council of Elrond?

i am not sure, maybe if u scim through the book it might tell ya but i cant remember if any other elves were in the book at the CoE. I just supposed that they were a high ranking elf that were "representing" mirkwood. kinda like Boromir. He represented gondor in the destruction of the ring. they only difference is that Boromir went and the others didnt

Actually, the Elf representing Mirkwood DID go with the Fellowship. Legolamb, or something like that ;). Theoretically, the other Elves would include Erestor, chief councilor of the house of Elrond, Galdor, representing Cirdan and the Grey Havens, and Glorfindel. They are the only other Elves present at the Council Of Elrond who are named, although there is a reference to the presence of other councilors of Elrond, besides Erestor.

I was wondering what the actors' names were, too. I knew the book mentioned Glorfindel, Galdor, and Erestor. It's funny that PJ put Snaga on the credits of TTT, but all those elves at the council did not get credit. It's not on any web site I could find, either.

I heard in one of the "making of" type shows (can't remember which one) that they used models for the extra Elves. This makes sense because when I look at stills of the council, Legolas looks awfully short sitting next to the other Elves.

Yes, he does look shorter than some of the others!

I guess they used models because elves are tall, but it's stupid to do since Orlando Bloom isn't very tall and was made to look short in comparison. Yeah, Legolas might be shorter than Erestor and Glorfindel, but he shouldn't have super tall elves next to him.

This is the kind of thing that makes no sense to me... PJ bothers to get super tall guys to play the extra elves but some medium guy to play Legolas, not only that but he has short legs. Maybe it was to have Aragorn look tall in comparison... I don't know. I'll allow for a mediun height Legolas, but there need not be giants next to him!

Who possibly imagines Legolas with short legs? I just don't get the impression.

Am I the only who imagines Legolas as being like 6'0 140 lbs at most, with dark hair, more narrow face, deep dark eyes and a musical and cheerful voice?

I know it can't be easy to find someone to play an elf, but all the effort put into this movie you'd think (or at least I would think) they'd find a more elfy person for the main elf role.

but to get more on topic here - I don't know who played the extra elves. But I'd like to know about the one who was standing behind Arwen (the short one in silver) when the fellowship departed... ;)

I agree with pretty much everything you said, except I have always pictured Legolas with blonde hair.

As far as the council goes, couldn't PJ have given him a higher chair to sit in so he would look the same height as the Elves sitting next to him?

BTW were the extra Elves at the council the same extra Elves they used in Lothlorien?

Who said subtlety was a dying art?

I thought that the elven extras were true to the Tolkein descriptions - in other words, they looked err...girly! Oh come on - it may have been socially accptable for men to sing and dance and shriek and cry pre 1959 but nowadays there is a word to describe these actions - CAMP.

As the main elven characters (Legolas, Celeborn, Elrond bla bla)were far more composed and less pretty IMO they were suitable and appropriately cast.

Here are links to the extras you sawi the films:

Yeah, it sure would have great if Tolkien had spent nearly 60 years of his life writing an epic history of the Elves, in which he treated them seriously and the Elves fought great wars...

Could you please post some sort of quotations from ANYTHING that Tolkien EVER wrote that would suggest that his Elves (well, at least the male ones) should appear or act either "girly" or in a way that suggests "CAMP"?
