Maglor was Feanor's second son from his marriage to Nerdanel. He’s renowned for his entertainment and great poems. He was regarded as the best in poetry from the Noldor. He was believed to have taken his nature from Nerdanel's gentle temperament. Although he was said to marry, there wasn't much said about him after the year 587 of First Age.
The elves overcame the servants of Melkor but met an unfortunate end when they followed the fleeing armies to Angband. The wound that Feanor sustained was terrible and he died as his sons raced back to Mithrim to save his life. Feanor cursed Morgoth thrice before his death around Eithel Sirion. Maglor traveled with his exiled brothers to the eastern part of Beleriand, he later settled within the hills that bordered Himring and the Blue Mountains, which he named Maglor's Gap. The settlement, Maglor's Gap, was later destroyed when the first dragon of Morgoth, Glaurung, passed through it.
The dragon's attack made Maglor and his elven community relocate to Himring where Maedhros resided. Dagor Bragollach occurred when Maglor settled in Himring. The house of Bor entered Beleriand following Dagor Bragollach to swear in allegiance to Feanor's sons, Maglor and his brother. Bor along with his sons Borlad, Borthand, and Borlach followed in turns. Maedhros heard that Luthien and his wife succeeded in collecting a Silmaril from Morgoth’s crown, so he believed he could lead his people to overcome Morgoth.
Maedhros allied Men with Elves and called the alliance the Union of Maedhros. [1] He had his plan laid out for execution. He planned to lead an army to challenge the Angband’s armies from the east while Findon would attack Angband from the western part with his army. Nirnaeth Arnoediad occurred when the Union denounced Ulfang, which was made up of the Elf-kinds and men. Maglor killed Ulfang’s son, Uldor, as a result. The Union broke and its members were wounded, but none of them was killed. They sought refuge in the eastern Mount Dolmed, where they lived the life of the woods in Ossiriand after the battle ended. Beren and his wife passed the Jewel to their son, Dior. When Maedhros, Maglor, and their exiled brothers heard about the inheritance.
They requested the Silmarils but Dior vowed to keep it as his parents'. Maglor and other Feanor's sons attacked Doriath in a fierce battle that didn’t help them recover the Jewel but rather led to the painful loss of Curufin, Caranthir, and Celegorm. Amon Ereb was located in the eastern part of Beleriand, and it was there that Feanor's sons live together.
They lived in their new settlement in regret of the destruction they caused at Doriath, so when they heard about the whereabouts of Erwing, who escaped Doriath with the Silmarils, they held back from an attack. After much deliberation from the brothers, they sent a message to the Mouth of Sirion. The message showed a lack of hostility but demanded the release of the Jewel. The surviving sons of Feanor [2] later attacked the Mouth of Sirion and slew their kins once more. Feanor’s sons caused great calamity upon the inhabitants of the Haven but Erwing fled over the Sea with the Silmarils again.
When Feanor’s sons saw that they failed again after many of theirs had fallen, they received the heirs of Erwing under their care. Maedhros was unsettled due to his failure to fulfill his oath. He convinced his brother that to steal was the only choice they had left. The only two that remained of Feanor's sons, Maglor and his brother, planned to steal the Jewel that the Valar recovered from Morgoth. After Maglor failed to discourage his Maedhros from this dangerous act, he joined him knowing they may be on their last attempt for the Silmarils before death. The brothers infiltrated the place where the Valar kept the Silmarils and took them, but the brothers could not bear the Silmarils afterward due to their brutalities. The Silmarils burned their hands after a possible curse from the Valar. Maedhros plunged to his death with the Silmarils while Maglor threw his Silmarils in the sea. Afterward, he wandered through Arda singing over his loss until nothing was mentioned about him anymore.
