Marwen

Non-canon alert
This subject contains information from non-canonical sources.
Marwen, called the Queen of the Shore, was the leader of the Tribesmen of Nurn. She is a character only in Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor and is not part of J.R.R. Tolkien's works.

Portrayal In Adaptations

Marwen became the Queen of Nurn shortly after Sauron's return to Mordor. She was held in high esteem throughout the Southern region of Mordor as an excellent warrior before being crowned as the Queen. After the return of Sauron, Marwen tried her best to avoid any war looming against the Dark Lord. When she sought help from the wizard Saruman to eradicate Sauron from Dol Guldur, she fell prey to his spells. Saruman was very eager to find the One Ring then. Saruman's spells caused Marwen to age prematurely, and she fell into a state of atrophy. She hence sent her adopted daughter Lithariel to find Celebrimbor, the creator of the Elven Rings of Power. Lithariel was able to bring Talion to her Queen mother's court. Possessed by Saruman, Marwen sent Talion on several expeditions to bring the wrath of Celebrimbor under his control and remove it from Talion's body. Realizing her mother's condition, Lithariel freed her from the magic spells and saved Talion and Celebrimbor. Later, Marwen supported Talion in launching a successful attack on the Tower of Sauron. However, the land of Nurn was invaded by the Black Hand, and the leadership of Marwen came under threat. It is not very clear whether Queen Marwen and Lithariel fled or were captivated and slain.
